New Delhi: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will mark the completion of a significant section of the historic Dwarka Expressway, which would reduce traffic on the Delhi-Gurugram route.

Today marks the opening of the Dwarka Expressway’s Haryana segment, which will facilitate better traffic flow on NH-48 between Delhi and Gurugram. Ninety thousand commuters who use this route daily will have a minimum 20-minute reduction in travel time thanks to the freeway.

Throughout its 18 km, it features multiple underpasses and service roads, making it the only expressway in India constructed entirely on single pillars. Additionally, the eight-lane motorway will offer direct access to the Gurugram Bypass and the Delhi International Airport.

The cost of building the highway came close to ₹10,000 crore. The cost of the Haryana sector came to ₹ 4,100 crore. This includes an 8.7-kilometer section connecting Basai Rail-over-Bridge (ROB) and Kherki Daula, and a 10.2-kilometer section connecting the Delhi-Haryana Border with Basai ROB.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for several highway projects worth ₹1 lakh crore around the nation today, including this one. The Bharatmala Project, the premier infrastructure undertaking of the Modi administration, includes the Dwarka Expressway as a crucial component.

Due to the Prime Minister’s event, traffic restrictions are in effect at the border crossings between Delhi and Gurugram. Traffic advisories have also been issued by the Delhi and Gurugram Police.

A 9.6-kilometer, six-lane Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)-Package 3 project in Delhi that connects Nangloi-Najafgarh Road and Sector 24 Dwarka is one of the other significant projects that will be officially opened today.

Today will also see the official opening of three segments of the Lucknow Ring Road and the Anandapuram-Pendurthi-Anakapalli phase of NH-16 in Andhra Pradesh.
In addition, the Prime Minister will introduce projects in Himachal Pradesh valued at ₹ 3,400 crore, Karnataka at ₹ 2,750 crore, and other regions of the nation at ₹ 20,500 crore.

The foundation stone will be set today for a number of highway projects, including six packages of the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur stretch of NH-748A in Karnataka and fourteen sections of the Bengaluru-Kadappa-Vijayawada Expressway.
The Prime Minister will lay the cornerstones for several parts of the Amritsar-Bathinda corridor in Punjab and the Shamli-Ambala Highway in Haryana.
